Starting from Piazza Motta, at the corner of the Ora hotel, we walk up Via Giovanetti, then leave the village by Via Fava, and skirting the gardens of the eighteenth century villas we arrive at the Crociera crossroads.
Crossing this, after about 200 metres at the Hotel Santa Caterina we turn tight onto a small street (Strada della Prisciola) which goes uo towards the railway campgrounds.
Once we pass that we are on a paved road which leads to Corconio from Legro. We turn right. Once past the Villa San Francesco, the last houses and the local garden plots, the street leads on through the woods.
At the point where the paved roads swing to the left, rising stepply towards Vacciago, our walk continues along a beaten path which starts off level and then dips.
It is a very scenic road high up above the lake with a magnificent view of the Island of San Giulio, Monte Rosa and Buccione Tower. It is just a few minutes from here to Corconio. We take the same road to get back.
